Ammar Popular Film Festival's opening ceremony is held in the Iranian capital city of Tehran.
The event took place on Thursday at the Felestin (Palestine) cinema.
The executive secretary of the festival, Hamid Salehi, earlier announced during a press conference that the 14th edition of the festival received an overwhelming response of over 3,300 works, including documentaries, animations, and scripts.
With a dedicated emphasis on Palestine, this year’s festival is themed on the New World Order, the ideal of Ruhollah, the Iranian dream, criticism within the discourse, national memory, the global movement of the oppressed, economic war, heroic nation, and soft war.
The Ammar Popular Film Festival goes against promoting “individualism and extreme enjoyment without caring about the society's troubles and other humans’ suppression,” the event’s official website reads.
The festival aims “to raise real awareness and responsibility among the general public,” the website adds.
Here are some photos of the ceremony.
The festival wraps up on January 19, 2024.
